Youth organizations like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the
YMCA use the buddy system to enhance safety. When the
children swim, hike, or enjoy other recreational activities,
they always have a companion by their side. Buddy checks
are held every few minutes to insure that each child has his
buddy by his side.
This practice makes it possible for one child to know when
another needs help. It also lessens the chances of youngster
doing something radically foolish.
Weight Watchers uses a form of the buddy system. They have
an associate record each member’s weight. The associate
provides encouragement, urging or praise as needed.
A mountain climber tethers himself to a buddy. If he loses his
footing, his buddy keeps him from tumbling to his death.
You can use the buddy system to help you keep on the path
toward your lofty goals. Choose a buddy that will challenge
you when you need challenging, encourage you when you
need encouraging, and praise you when you need praising.
Do not choose one who will ridicule or tease you, or who
will entice you to backslide.
By working with a buddy you deepen your commitment to
your goals. When you feel tempted to fall back into old
ways, your buddy can remind you of what you really want.
Your buddy will help you celebrate as you make large and
small victories on the path toward your ultimate goals.
If you have no one with whom you feel that you can safely
confide, you have options.

Increase your effectiveness and your accountability by using
the buddy system. You will certainly make greater strides
toward your dreams.

I've just read "Ordinary People Can Achieve Their Lofty
Goals" for the 3rd time in 3 days. The first time, I only got
to page 10 before I felt so inspired that I had to stop and
finish off some work on some goals I'd let slip. The second
time, I just couldn't put the book down. I read and re-read
the articles and learnt so much. What an amazing
collection. So profound and uplifting. The third time, I
decided to cancel everything else and devote a couple of
hours to the book and read them all through. It's like a
Masterclass in Motivation. My mood lifted so much, I felt
so inspired at the end. It's definitely going to be a book I'm
going to come back to again and again. Brilliant concept,
brilliant execution, brilliant results.
Thanks.

exactly how it was. Eric Garner
