With the coming of the New Year, we traditionally feel the great urge to make changesólose weight, improve fitness, improve our education, write a book, get out of debt, start a business or read more. Now is a great time to seize that desire, and actually change.
All successful and planned improvement begins with resolve. This effective resolve usually comes from a defining moment. Maybe some innocent and honest child says you are fat. Or, you may see a picture of yourself and realize that you have gained way too much weight. Maybe debt collectors begin threatening you, or the death of a loved one makes you examine your life.
The most desirable defining moments donít come from tragedy at all. How much better it is to reach a defining moment by being moved by a speech, book, or e-zine.
Reflection Can Bring Resolve
This time of year makes a very good time to reflect on your life. Think about the dreams you had when you were younger, or which you currently have. Are you moving toward them? Are you taking active steps to realize them?
Take time to create an action plan. In order to achieve your dream what do you need to do? What do you need to learn? What do you need to do to position yourself to make it happen for you?
What obstacles keep you from success with your dream? What plan have you made to get past those obstacles?
As you reflect on these things, you will find constructive actions you can take to move forward. Rather than waiting in vain, you can be moving. Itís your choice.
Let Today Be Your Defining Moment
I encourage you to make today your defining moment. You have the ability to choose. You have the intellect and the gifts you need to achieve your dreams. You only need the resolve and the plan. Reach out and obtain them, and you will get what you want.
