A high number of people who fail to reach their great goals fail because they don’t start. Many look back with much sadness and regret as they realize they never chased their real dreams.
No marathoner has enjoyed the thrill of crossing the finish line without feeling the fear and doubt of the starting line.
No author has ever enjoyed the acclaim and financial rewards of a bestseller without sitting in front of a blank screen or page and started working.
If you want to achieve your lofty goals, you must start where you currently sit.
At age 41 my wife faced eight years of college to reach her goal of becoming a dentist, she realized she wouldn’t finish until close to her 40th birthday. But she chose to start her school by saying, “At the end of eight years, I’ll be 49 anyway, I might as well be 49 and a dentist.
As you face the beginning of a long quest for your lofty goals, remember that you’ll never get there unless you start.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard from people who have said, “I’ve always wanted to write a book.” “I really need to lose weight and get more fit.” “I want out of debt.”
Yet, most of these wonderful people with lofty goals wait for better conditions. They want their circumstances to line up. They wait until they have everything in place. But this never happens.
If you have a dream, I encourage you to get started—now. Work on your plan and then roll up your sleeves and get going.
Dr. Phil McGraw said, “You can’t get anywhere unless you start.”
Hoping and dreaming of a better world are not enough if we are unwilling to work; but when we work towards our dreams, wonderful things can happen. Lloyd Newell
You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things— to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals. Sir Edmund Hillary
Nothing splendid has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstances. Bruce Barton
Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. William Jennings Bryan
Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Establish your priorities and go to work. H. L. Hunt

I've just read "Ordinary People Can Achieve Their Lofty Goals" for the 3rd time in 3 days. The first time, I only got to page 10 before I felt so inspired that I had to stop and finish off some work on some goals I'd let slip. The second time, I just couldn't put the book down. I read and re-read the articles and learnt so much. What an amazing collection. So profound and uplifting. The third time, I decided to cancel everything else and devote a couple of hours to the book and read them all through. It's like a Masterclass in Motivation. My mood lifted so much, I felt so inspired at the end. It's definitely going to be a book I'm going to come back to again and again. Brilliant concept, brilliant execution, brilliant results.
By the way, there's no hype in that paragraph. That's exactly how it was. Eric Garner
